Letter to Morrie – ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’

Dear Morrie,

I hope you are happy and in a better place

I, fortunately, read that book your favorite student Mitch Albom wrote for you, your last project before your death, “Tuesdays with Morrie”. I surely don’t know you personally but while reading the book it felt like I was there with you and Mitch on those Tuesdays.

“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. “ – Henry Adams said it correctly. Never in my wildest dream have I thought of reading about you or knowing you to such extent that it would start feeling so personal to me. I felt the pain while reading about your demise. I already knew this in the beginning that this is going to happen, but what I was not aware of is that pain and loss will start feeling so personal to me.

Those Tuesdays with you taught me some valuable learnings. Thank you for laying down the path that takes us on the journey of making our perishable life worthy. Mentors like you are required to teach us about, what pure love is and how loving and caring can provide our souls with immense happiness, how to value the time that we have with our loved ones on this earth by accepting the fear of dying one day, how we should have a limited session of self-pity daily so that we can live the rest of the day without any worry. If I sit down to make a list of what all things you taught me, this letter is definitely going to be turn out into another book. But I would really like you to know how deeply you have influenced me by your simplicity, courage, humor, and down to earth nature.

I cried whenever you cried, I cried when you were facing difficulties due to that terminal disease, I felt numb when gradually your limbs were becoming thinner and thinner, I lost it when I saw you facing difficulties even in doing a simple job of speaking. I don’t know if I will ever be as courageous as you to face such physical pain but I assure you that I will try to implement everything that I learned from you in such a short time span.

I wish everything good for your further journey

One of the million souls you inspired!
