Have you ever felt this way that you watch content on self-care routines on some days, then you try registering it to your regular routines but eventually these self-care routines that were supposed to be relaxing and rejuvenating for your soul and mind, end up being a stressor?

Many of us still believe that self-care means being self-centred, that doing something for yourself is egocentric or selfish. Audre Lorde said it right that-
“self-care is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation”
Self-care means taking care of yourself so that you can be healthy, you can be happy, you can be mindful, you can accomplish everything that you want to, and when you are at a better place, mentally and physically, you can help others too. I am sure you must have heard the phrase self-care quite often nowadays and that is justified too. In the present world, where all of us are working hard and hustling constantly to achieve certain things, it has now become a necessity rather than a luxury to prioritise ourselves. Investing in self-care routines is like opening a recurring deposit for a long-term investment. Your daily consistent efforts will gradually accumulate and will give you long-term desired returns like a happy soul, healthy body, and a practical mindset. Isn’t it worth it?
Also, mind you, by self-care I do not mean excessive physical activities, utterly boring diets, or hours and hours of meditation. Of course, these are also the things that can be done while caring for ourselves, but this list is not exhaustive. There are various types of self Self-care routines and you can choose what suits you the best or what is most essential for you. For instance, Journaling is also one of the ways of practicing self-care but not all of us enjoy doing it and that’s okay. You don’t have to be harsh on yourself. There will be something else, exactly tailored for your fit.
Always remember, self-care starts with you and for you. Do whatever you love doing, whatever makes you happy, and whatever helps in eradicating stress elements. Remember one thing that you just can not ignore yourself on the way to pursuing your dreams and goals. Nourish yourself, take care of yourself, and treat yourself for making it through every day.
